Group Forms 501(c)(6) To Advance Technology In Oldham County
Former Chamber of Commerce High Tech Committee Rolls Out New Organization

LaGrange, Ky (March 16, 2004)---A group of technology oriented companies, the Oldham County Chamber of Commerce and other businesses have joined forces to develop a new organization called OCTANE, Inc. OCTANE stands for Oldham County Technology Advancement NEtwork. OCTANE is a non-stock, non-profit corporation, incorporated in the Commonwealth of Kentucky (the “Corporation”) pursuant to the provisions of the Kentucky Model Non-Profit Corporation Act, KRS Chapter 273. The organization was formed with the following officers:

• President---Beach Craigmyle---Stewart, Roelandt, Stoess & Craigmyle Attorneys

• Vice Presidents for Programs/President-Elect---Marsha Noe---Baptist Hospital Northeast

• Vice President of Communications---Lambert Franklin---Oldham County On-Line

• Vice President of Membership---Don Helton, Adler Communications

• Secretary & Interim Treasurer---Kathy Jacobs---Oldham County Chamber of Commerce

OCTANE has outlined the following objectives for the group and will work with initial members to further define the role and mission of the corporation going forward:

• Promote the advancement of science and technology in Oldham County and surrounding regions

• Educate members and the public in the uses and improvement of advanced technology, processes, materials, and systems

• Collect and disseminate information on services, markets and opportunities in the technology sectors

• Cooperate with and facilitate liaisons with other local and regional technology-based organizations, industry groups, and professional societies

• Educate our members and the community on the technology available for their use in their business and/or at home

• Provide technical advice to members and to the community

• Assist the community in improving productivity through the adoption and use of high tech solutions

• Make public service presentations to civic groups, local businesses and other organizations for the purpose of advancing the acceptance of technology in the region

• Provide an organized forum for technology-based businesses, service providers, educators, students, government, and the public at large with respect to the free and open exchange of ideas, knowledge and experience relating to the best modes and practices of using advanced technologies, including but not limited to, information technology, telecommunications, manufacturing technology, medical technology, biotechnology, including military, industrial and security applications

• Stimulate the education, founding, expansion and economic development of the community by utilizing advanced technology processes and systems, to encourage technology based industry in the Oldham County area and surrounding region

• Attract and retain a technically talented workforce; and to encourage and promote high standards of ethics, service, and competence among members and the community

OCTANE is starting with approximately twelve (12) members and the organization will be made up of members from four primary classifications which will include: Corporate, Academic, Individual and Student. Annual membership dues will be charged, but students will be admitted at no cost. The corporation will be contacting local businesses, schools, colleges and organizations to communicate the advantages of joining OCTANE. In addition, the organization will be presenting to local businesses and civic clubs in the coming weeks to get the word out about OCTANE.
